The Nikon Binoc-U-Mount is designed to let you tripod mount a binocular that does not have a 1/4"-20 thread tripod adapter hole in its hinge for tripod mounting. It consists of a leather saddle with a built-in metal plate that is threaded to fit onto the 1/4"-20 thread attachment bolt in a camera tripod’s pan head. The binocular is placed in the saddle (a raised and padded area in the center of the saddle fits between the two objective tubes of the binocular and prevents it from sliding from side to side). Two velcro-fasten straps wrap over the top of the binocular and fasten on the far side of the saddle to hold the binocular securely in place. The straps can be positioned to give free access to the binocular focus wheel. The adapter weighs 5 oz. and can hold both roof and porro prism binoculars from 35mm to 56mm in aperture.
